CA NOTIFY

CA Notify is a free exposure notification system that can let you know if you were recently near someone who tested positive for COVID-19, even if you don't know each other.

For this project, that started right in the middle of the pandemic, I got to work remotely with project managers and designers; my role was to implement the site design provided by the designers.

Responsibilities

Along the design updates, I also had the responsibility of creating a managing the website translated into 17 languages, which were provided by a third-party translation company provider.

Besides implementing the website design and translations, I worked with Apple and Google engineer and developers for the iPhone and Android notification guidelines.

How it Works

A set up instructions created to inform users on how to notify other people, which was essential to make sure we keep the people informed anonymously.

The requirements are minimal, for iPhone, notifications are installed by default, the user just has to turn them on the setting app.

For Android, there's a Google Store App that users can download.

The app was developed using the Google Apple Exposure Notification API through a collaboration between Google, Apple, California Department of Technology, CDPH and the University of California.

Long-term gains

I was greatly appreciative of the opportunity to work with CDPH to help many users to stay informed during the pandemic. We enjoyed working together during the creative process and we're all very happy with the result.
